Walkabout Program FAQS

Who designs a Walkabout Project?

The student, with the help of a chosen committee of adults in his/her community, and the help of his/her Clonlara Advisor, designs a plan for the project. Sometimes there is a finite time/scope; however, in other instances, the Walkabout Project grows as it progresses. This is a topic that a student would discuss with his/her manager and Clonlara advisor.

How much credit can be earned from a Walkabout Project?

The Project can earn up to one and a half credits based on the scope of the project and the time spent. Sometimes the Project expands into another Walkabout Project which could earn more credit. At the conclusion of a Walkabout, the Clonlara Advisors helps to decide how best to name the credits to be added to the student's transcript.

When can a student do a Walkabout Project?

A student can do a Walkabout Project at any time. No specific number of credits is required prior to doing a Walkabout Project. The only requirement is that a student be willing to work in a self directed manner and have an appropriate manager and committee. A student can do a Walkabout Project while earning other credits or at a separate time. Either way is fine with us.

Is there an additional cost to do a Walkabout Project?

The student is responsible for any costs incurred while doing the Walkabout Project; however, there are no additional fees assessed to the student by Clonlara.
