Welcoming & Inclusive

We serve all kinds of families and students! Our families include:

new homeschool families

experienced homeschool families

dedicated unschoolers

members of co-ops and associations

Learning should be fun! Especially in the early years when children are getting a sense of themselves and the world around them. Our elementary-age learners:

  • Follow their curiosities and build on their strengths

  • Explore the world and experience it as the classroom

  • Learn critical thinking skills while developing their talents

  • Master reading, writing and math skills in ways that make sense to them and builds a strong foundation for future academic success

Guidance & Support

Each student is assigned a Clonlara Advisor. The parent works closely with that Advisor to map out an educational plan to fit their child's interests, learning style, talents, and goals. Clonlara Advisors provide personalized learning resource suggestions for each student.

Parents oversee their student's learning and are asked to submit two progress reports each year for the student's file. Report cards can be created upon request.

Each family receives an Elementary Education Guide containing Comprehensive Skills Guidebooks outlining the skills acquired by elementary aged learners in the core skill areas. The guide contains the Minimal Performance Objectives adopted for kindergarten through eighth grade by the Department of Education in Michigan and is substantially equivalent to similar objectives published by Departments of Education in other states.

Advisors also may provide educational standards and benchmarks for those parents who want to know how their children compare with other children at their age-level.

Terra Nova Testing

The TerraNova is an optional, standardized test available to students each spring. It is produced by CTB/McGrawHill. Please Note: Clonlara does not require standardized testing.
